One of the concerns of our directors has been; how, or where does a student who has completed our “Introduction to Golf Program” continue to expand their golfing ability?

The golf professionals at University Golf Course have designed a new golf program for Juniors, with an emphasis on education in the form of rules and etiquette, goal setting, mental game and course management seminars, as well as lots of golf over the summer months and golf instruction through semi-private and group lessons.

They have organized several golf matches to increase the exposure to golf competitions and last year the two students we awarded bursaries to were very pleased. One of our guys won the “Most Improved Player Award”. This year the UGC Junior Golf Society have again chosen two kids to participate at this advanced level. The Rotary Club – Arbutus has agreed to cover their cost of attending the 2007 Junior Players Club program. Both of the boys are very enthusiastic golfers and both have the ability and attitude required. They are brothers, so this really helps in transportation and supervision.
