University Golf Course
Photo: Michael Mather, general manager of the University Golf Course, presents a grant to the UGC Junior Golf Society to assist the program of golf introduction for kids from the inner city schools. Michael Mather sits on our Board of Directors, and has continued to support us throughout the development of our program. UGC provides all of the facilities of the golf course, and we make extensive use of the driving range and teaching facilities.  The clubhouse also welcomes us at refreshment time, perhaps the favourite part for some of our students.

Telus
Nini Baird, Chair of the Telus Vancouver Community Board recently advised us that our application for a Grant had been approved.  The letter went on to explain that at Telus they have the ability and responsibility to influence the quality of economic, social and physical life in our communities.  Through their community investment program they contribute people, resources, technology and expertise to help make the community where we live, work and serve, future friendly.  The Community Board of Telus feels that our project will have an extremely positive impact on the Vancouver Inner City program run by KIDSAFE.

The Keg Spirit Foundation
The Keg Spirit Foundation is most interested in supporting programs that directly benefit the development of children and youth. In particular, their goal is to recognize the organizations that mirror the mentorship that The Keg Steakhouse & Bar has provided to so many young people for more than thirty years.

Rotary Club of Vancouver, Arbutus Branch
The Rotary Club – Arbutus agreed for their 2007 activity to sponsor two boys into the UGC Junior Players Club and we are indebted to Steve Emerman for this arrangement. The boys selected will attend a Rotary luncheon on August 3, 2007 to be introduced and to say a few words about how they are enjoying the program. Kidsport
Kidsport provides financial assistance towards the registration fee for needy kids to join and participate in a session of sport.  Since its inception in 1993, over 14,000 kids have received grants from the Kidsport Fund.

BC Golf Association
Photo: Anne Peabody, First Vice-President of the BCGA presents a cheque to Art Charpentier, President of the UGC Junior Golf Society.  The kind donation of hats, T-shirts and golf rule books were also welcome, as well as attendance by a lady golf pro at one of our lessons.

UGC Mid-Week Men's Club
The UGC MWMC has designated us as their charity for 2007. They run a 50/50 draw at various luncheons and in addition they recommend individual members donate whenever possible. Members of this club are also members of our Volunteers Program.

Our seniors golf club supports the efforts of the UGC Junior Golf Society in their efforts to give a real golf experience to kids who ordinarily would not have such an opportunity. The association with KIDSAFE, an organization that provides safe havens and interesting activities for vulnerable students in Vancouver’s East Side, is wonderful and should help kids build confidence and self esteem while at the same time expose them to a new sport.

UGC Tuesday Ladies Club
This year the Tuesday ladies offered to sponsor one girl into the advanced UGC Juniors Players Club however, our choice could not accept because she already had a very busy summer activity schedule planned. She is a very promising golfer with an excellent attitude towards gold, easy to teach, and hopefully, she’ll be available next year.
